da gbg bet: As things stand, the Premier League campaign is going okay for Southampton after 21 games of the season.
da prosport bet: After a wretched start in which Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men had just eight points following the 9-0 loss to Leicester at the end of October, they have picked themselves up to sit 12th with 25 points to their name.
As aforesaid, while things are currently going in a respectable manner, the former RB Leipzig manager’s side would be in a severely perilous position were it not for one man’s efforts – Danny Ings.
While that may sound obvious, seeing as the England international has scored 13 Premier League goals in 17 starts this term – more than Harry Kane, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Raheem Sterling – his importance to Southampton when you boil his efforts down to how many points he’s earned alone is scary.
The former Liverpool striker, amazingly, has won 15 of Southampton’s 25 points with his goals alone.
The first meaningful goal of Ings’ campaign came in a 1-1 draw against Wolves, winning his side a point, before he netted another point-winning goal in a 2-2 draw against Arsenal at The Emirates – that’s two points won by the 27-year-old.
Then, Southampton’s No.9 went on a scoring streak, netting a goal in each of the next three games coming against Watford, Norwich and Newcastle – the first two of those three games saw the Saints win by a 2-1 scoreline, seeing Ings grab six more points for his side.
Following those goals, the £20m man then scored twice in a 3-1 win against Aston Villa, again winning the three points for his teammates when, without his strikes, they would’ve had to settle for a point.
Most recently, the last two Premier League outings have seen Ings score an equaliser against Crystal Palace and the winning goal in a 1-0 win over Tottenham, resulting in the former Burnley striker earning four more points for Hasenhuttl.

Without those strikes, Southampton would be rooted to the bottom of the Premier League with ten points to their name, four points behind Norwich who currently have 14 points to their name.
Quite simply, Ings’ importance cannot be understated – he is having a massive impact on his side’s season.
