da leao: The north London outfit play home to Southampton on Saturday afternoon looking to record their third win of the Premier League campaign, and face a Ralph Hasenhuttl managed side just one point worse off after the opening six matchdays of the season.
Southampton dropped their first points since matchday two last time out, when they fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to south coast rivals AFC Bournemouth, having beaten Sheffield United and Brighton & Hove Albion either side of holding Manchester United to a draw in their prior three top-flight fixtures.
The Saints also won the last time they faced Tottenham, when goals by 20-year-old right-back Yan Valery and a direct free-kick from James Ward-Prowse overturned Harry Kane’s 17th of the term.
Son only featured as a late substitute that day, in what was his eighth league outing against the St Mary’s Stadium natives (TransferMarkt).
Chuncheon, South Korea-born Son first faced Southampton as a stoppage-time replacement for an injured Kane in December 2015, and started the reverse fixture before scoring his first goal against the Saints.
The following term saw Son score from the bench in a 4-1 win, before featuring as Tottenham recorded a 2-1 triumph as they continued what would be a five-game unbeaten run which included a further two goals and two assists for the 27-year-old.
Son has only started more Premier League games against Bournemouth, Chelsea and Arsenal than he has against Southampton, while only scoring more against the Cherries, Watford and Crystal Palace by one.
Spurs have now moved to look ahead to their latest encounter with Southampton by sharing a highlight reels of Son’s goals against the south coast side, which sparked some reaction from their fans…
