da bet7: From the moneybags of Paris Saint Germain to the stingy negotiating of Arsene Wenger, who would make that move?
da bwin: Well, it’s not as bad as it may seem these days. Wenger’s Arsenal are beginning to loosen their purse-strings (partly because they have no choice if they wish to compete) and the life of a footballer for Paris Saint Germain is seemingly quite a tedious one. Whether under the stewardship of Laurent Blanc or the newly-arrived Unai Emery, it is pretty darn tricky to be deemed a success in the French capital.
Anything other than a Champions League victory seems a rather empty season, as they continue to waltz all over their Ligue 1 rivals like Didier Drogba against Philippe Senderos.
With the Premier League looking to be on the rise once again, life as an Arsenal footballer has a little more spice to it. The opportunity to play with two of the world’s best, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, as well as a wonderful plethora of midfield options, must make it a little more enticing to move to the Emirates.
Investment is needed for Arsenal this summer, still. Could these THREE PSG stars be the answer?
Marquinhos
Injury to Per Mertesacker has meant that the need for a new central defender has grown dramatically. Laurent Koscielny might be good, but even he cannot hold the fort for the entire time single-handedly. There is a desperate need for another defender and Marquinhos might just be that man.
As David Luiz and Thiago Silva monopolise the positions, Marquinhos has been used as a backup at centre-half or right-back for much of his PSG career and he must be wondering whether he should move to make the next step.
Blessed with pace and great reading of the game, Marquinhos would be at home in a high line alongside Koscielny and could build a formidable partnership with the Frenchman.
Lucas Moura
As Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continue to fall embarrassingly short of their perceived potential, Arsenal must be pondering the acquisition of a new winger. The need to improve their offensive options on the right hand side is a fair way down the pecking order, however.
Alexis is likely to play from the left and Ozil centrally, with Lucas Moura seeming to be the perfect flying winger to fill the void on the right.
The Brazilian initially struggled to hold down a place in the PSG team but became a key player over the last 12 months or so and is now a highly sought after star.
Edinson Cavani
Cavani, now Ibrahimovic has left, has the opportunity to become the star goal-scoring centre-forward for Paris Saint Germain.
However, he could do the same role at Arsenal. The question remains over the Uruguayan forward, however, of if he will ever find that form that made him such a talismanic figure for Napoli back in the earlier years of this decade.
The goals might still be there, but the size of the investment might not pay reasonable dividends, particularly as you consider that Cavani is heading towards the twilight of his career.
