da dobrowin: Manchester City are reportedly preparing a €40 million bid for Barcelona star Sergio Busquets according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
da brwin: Boss Roberto Mancini has identified the holding midfielder as the man to compliment Yaya Toure in the centre of City’s expensive midfield.
The Italian is adamant that the 23-year-old will add an extra element of class and enable his side to compete for the Premier League and Champions’ League crowns in years to come.
With the transfer window being closed in both La Liga and the Premier League City will have to wait until January to make a move, but could shelve their plans till next summer and do a deal then.
Busquets would be ineligible for Champions League duty if he takes to the field during the current campaign with Barca, who are the current holders, making his influence in the competition for City non-existent should he sign.
Despite interest from the Etihad Stadium it’s unlikely that Busquets would want to leave a Barca side where he is considered a vital cog by coach Pep Guardiola.
However, with the likes of current City stars David Silva, Toure, Sergio Agüero and Pablo Zabaleta having played in Spain – Toure was Busquets’ teammate at the Nou Camp – they may prove to be a tipping point should Busquets decide to leave the Nou Camp.
