da betobet: England boss Fabio Capello has hinted that he is ready to hand Manchester City midfielder Adam Johnson a place in his World Cup squad.
da heads bet: The former England Under-21 international could be about to win his first call-up to the full squad for next month's international friendly against Mexico after impressing Capello since arriving at Eastlands from Middlesbrough in January.
Capello has already lost David Beckham from his squad for South Africa, while there are still question marks hanging over the participation of injured Tottenham wideman Aaron Lennon.
When asked which players had caught his attention of late, Capello replied:"Adam Johnson. He's come up from the Championship at Middlesbrough, where he played in a different position and he's done well with Manchester City.
"Now it's important he gets some international experience."
Meanwhile, Capello has backed Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to rush Wayne Rooney back from an ankle injury to play in last week's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
Rooney aggravated an ankle ligament problem during United's quarter-final defeat but Capello insists he understood Ferguson's decision.
"I perfectly understand Sir Alex's decision to play Rooney because he knows how important he is psychologically for the whole team," he told The Sun.
"I don't think he took an unnecessary risk.
"If he played Rooney after the pre-match tests, clearly his conditions allowed him to do so."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
