As Mikel Arteta’s reign at Arsenal continues to take shape, the rest of the season may well take less importance as weeks go by.
More importantly for the Gunners, is how they go about revitalising the squad in the summer, when the new head coach can better implement his ideas, and go about signing some higher-profile targets rather going for loan moves like they did in January.
But according to The Daily Mail, Arsenal are monitoring Adam Lallana’s situation ahead of a possible move for the midfielder in the summer. The report claims that with the Liverpool ace’s contract coming to an end at the climax of this campaign, the Gunners and north London rivals Tottenham are eyeing up a possible swoop.

After hearing about their interest in the 31-year-old, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.
A couple of fans suggested that he’s not at the required level anymore, with one supporter saying that whilst they would have taken him a couple of years ago, he’s not good enough right now.
One fan in particular meanwhile criticised the fact they are potentially going after another injury-prone player – Lallana has missed 67 games for the Reds since joining them.
If this is a swoop based simply on finances, then that would be a worrying sign indeed for the Gunners. The north London side desperately need to make reinforcements that are genuine improvements on their first-team, rather than another cost-cutting measure.
Lallana’s injuries have stopped him from truly enjoying an impressive career at Liverpool, but if he can stay fit and healthy – and that’s a massive if – then it is perhaps less surprising why Arteta may want him at the Emirates.
