da esport bet: According to The Telegraph, West Brom are targeting Chris Hughton as their next manager following a failed promotion attempt.
What’s the word?
The Baggies have seemingly been on the lookout for a new permanent manager for a while now following Darren Moore’s sacking. Having missed out on Alex Neil, who signed a new deal with Preston, and failed to agree terms with Slavisa Jokanovic, they decided to give Jimmy Shan the role until the end of the term.
However, their promotion bid came to a hugely disappointing end on Tuesday, crashing out of the play-offs on penalties to Aston Villa.
And the Baggies’ hierarchy have been quick to respond by lining up Hughton as their next boss, per a report from The Telegraph. It claims that Albion are attracted by his previous two promotion-winning campaigns with Newcastle and Brighton.
Hughton was only sacked by the Seagulls earlier this week but has a history of doing well in the Championship, winning the division when he was in the North East.
Strong recruitment to bring success
If West Brom were to appoint the 60-year-old, it wouldn’t be glamorous, nor would it be too appealing. But the truth is, he could be the perfect man to bring short-term success to the Hawthorns.
Although the Baggies are crying out for someone with a long-term vision, making a move for Hughton would be smart and could help iron out where the club went wrong in 2018/19.
In the season prior to his promotion success with Brighton, they finished third, failing to go up through the play-offs.
However, Hughton learned from his mistakes and after evaluating what went awry, he took the Seagulls up automatically. His recruitment was strong and in a summer where there could be mass incomings and outgoings, that will be crucial.

Glenn Murray and Shane Duffy arrived at Brighton under Hughton and those are precisely the types of deals West Brom will need to do over pre-season. With Dwight Gayle leaving and the likes of Ahmed Hegazi proving too good for the Championship, replacements will be needed.
Moore’s transfer dealings were pretty poor in January and with a squad overhaul in order, the former Newcastle manager is an ideal individual to correct the mistakes from Albion’s unsuccessful campaign.
Promotion would surely be in the palm of their hands if he arrived.
