da betsul: Arsenal supporters have been pretty satisfied in recent times after seeing their side head into the current two-week break for internationals unbeaten in their last 16 matches in all competitions.
da dobrowin: Unai Emery’s men went into their most recent encounter with Wolves in the Premier League having not tasted defeat in any competition since August, with seven wins and two draws in nine league games alongside plenty of victories in the Europa League and Carabao Cup. And the Gunners made it 16 without defeat although it certainly wasn’t plain sailing at the Emirates Stadium, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s strike four minutes from time securing a 1-1 draw for the North London giants after Ivan Cavaliero had given the visitors an early lead.
Nevertheless, there have been many happy Arsenal fans up and down the country in recent times such has been their side’s fine run of form, several of whom have taken to Twitter demanding that their team seal a deal for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele, who has been linked with the club recently.
And those Arsenal fans are absolutely right to call for a stunning deal for the Frenchman, as Emery would go some way to bringing the good times back to the North London giants were he to land the 21-year-old.
Ultimately, things already appear to be heading in the right direction under the former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain manager, what with his Arsenal side embarking on a mightily impressive 16-match unbeaten run, which has taken them to fifth place in the Premier League and to the last-32 of the Europa League.
And while some will bemoan the relatively easy-looking fixtures the Gunners have had in that run, their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at the start of the month underlined that Emery’s men really aren’t far away from the country’s elite – Dembele’s addition would bring them a whole lot closer.
The 21-year-old made the move to Barcelona back in 2017 after impressing at German outfit Borussia Dortmund the campaign before, only for injury to disrupt his first few months at the Nou Camp at the start of last season.
However, he showed everyone just why the Catalans spent £135.5 million on him given he scored three goals and laid on seven assists in just ten La Liga appearances in the second half of last season as Ernesto Valverde’s men won the title at a canter.
And while he’s scored four times already this time round in the league, his future at the club seems uncertain amid reports that the Barcelona hierarchy and players aren’t happy with his attitude – thus, a move away could be in the offing.
And in an Arsenal side that are already a handful going forward with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the 21-year-old could seriously flourish to help take the Gunners even closer to the top sides in the Premier League.
After all, Dembele is a huge talent and is destined for big things in the game based on his first few years at senior level – he’s already won the World Cup and several other titles in his short career – and as such would not only be for the present at Arsenal, but also the future.
And with Emery already beginning to take the club forward following Arsene Wenger’s departure during the summer, that process would be accelerated by the arrival of Dembele – thus, those Arsenal fans calling for his arrival are spot on to do so, as the stunning addition of the attacker would go some way to bringing the goods times back to the Emirates Stadium.
