da bet7: England manager Fabio Capello has stated that he is happy with the squad at his disposal for the vital Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales over the next coming days, and has stated that representing your country is bigger than playing for your club.
da dobrowin: The Three Lions take on Bulgaria in Stadion Vasil Levski in Sofia on Friday night, and need three points as they are locked at the top of Group G with Montenegro on 11 points. The Italian coach feels his side can score, and has praised the attacking talent likely to play.
“We know the value of (Wayne) Rooney. Also, the players know Rooney at the top of his form can beat his opponent and other teams. But we have players in really good form,” the former Juventus boss told The Telegraph.
“Ashley Young is good, Downing is good, Theo Walcott is good and scoring goals. We are not just dependent upon Rooney,” he stated.
In defence, Manchester United youngster Chris Smalling looks set to make his international debut at right-back, with Capello impressed with his form in this position during the season so far.
“He surprised me when he played in the Community Shield against Manchester City. He played well. The four games that he’s played at right-back, he’s played really well,’’ he continued.
With the amount of money in football in the modern era, it can appear at times that player’s loyalties lie with their clubs rather than representing their nation, but Capello is in no doubt which is more important.
“If you play with the national team and are part of the squad, people know better the value of the players – it’s bigger,’’ he concluded.
