Rogers was rewarded for a brilliant season with Villa as he won the 2024-25 PFA Young Player of the Year award at the Manchester Opera House on Tuesday evening. The six-time England international scored eight goals and supplied 10 assists in last season's Premier League, while he also had some memorable moments in the Champions League. Rogers netted a hat-trick against Celtic and was again on the scoresheet during Villa's quarter-final first-leg defeat to eventual tournament winners Paris Saint-Germain.

The 23-year-old saw off competition from Lewis-Skelly, Dean Huijsen, Delap, Ethan Nwaneri and Kerkez to scoop a prize previously won by the likes of Gareth Bale, Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Lewis-Skelly enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough at Arsenal alongside fellow wonderkid Nwaneri, while Huijsen impressed enough at Bournemouth to earn a summer move to Real Madrid. Delap also transferred to a new club in Chelsea after bullying defenders with Ipswich, while Kerkez similarly left the Cherries for Liverpool following a season of energetic displays at left-back.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
To be eligible for the Young Player of the Year trophy, nominees must be aged 21 or under preceding the start of the season. It is open for players in all divisions, though unsurprisingly all former winners have come from Premier League sides. The previous winner was Chelsea's Cole Palmer, while Bukayo Saka was triumphant in 2022-23.
