da aviator aposta: Newcastle grabbed their third win on the bounce on Monday night, and the performance of Fabian Schar could make the Magpies think twice about January offers for Jamaal Lascelles.
Rafael Benitez and Mike Ashley were forced to double up on centre-backs this summer, and the Magpies now have five quality options for the heart of their defence.
Florian Lejeune’s knee injury forced the Magpies to buy both Federico Fernandez and Schar, and the pair have been sensational so far this season.
With Lejeune now close to a return and Ciaran Clark finding his old form, could selling Lascelles in January actually be a smart move?

The skipper is an absolute beast when on top form, but he has been outperformed by the new signings this season, and the money could then be spent on the thinner parts of the squad.
Fans have been heaping praise on Fernandez for his performance in the 2-1 win at Turf Moor, but Schar deserves plenty of credit too.
The 26-year-old was tipped as the next big thing when he broke through at Basel, and Benitez is bringing that potential out of him.
He was absolutely dominant in the air against a physical Burnley side, winning five aerial duels and making an incredible ten clearances. The three starting centre-backs also combined for a whopping 31 clearances.
Schar reads the game fantastically well for a young defender, making three tackles and one interception in the win, and his ball-playing skills are impressive as well.
He completed 76 per cent of his passes, including 11 attempted long balls and one brilliant key pass.
While the emergence of Rafa’s three-at-the-back tactic could prompt him to keep all five first-team stars, it seems unlikely he’ll be able to find enough playing time for all of them, and Schar and Fernandez simply must keep their places as the top pairing.
So, Newcastle fans, how impressed are you by Schar? Would you sell Lascelles if a big offer came in? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
