da roleta: Newcastle fans received some excellent news when it was announced that Rafael Benitez would stay at the club, despite him having a relegation release clause in his contract.
da stake casino: He was expected to depart the club after failing to keep them afloat last season; but will now attempt to lead the club back to the Premier League.
With the clubs most important signing, in the retention of Benitez, already captured; the club are now looking forward in an attempt to build for the future.
With Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle already captured, there are a host of other names that the club have been linked with, with Benitez keen to enlist a host of new talent to replace his faltering stars.
Ritchie and Gayle have bulked out the clubs attack, whilst Newcastle’s midfield is probably the sides strongest area.
The defence is argueably Newcastle’s weakest area, given the vast number of goals the side conceded last year. As a result, it seems that Benitez is placing all of his attention on renewing the quality of that Newcastle back line.
Here are SIX additions to complete Benitez’s promotion chasing Newcastle…
Jesus Gamez
One player that is set to join the club imminently is Jesus Gamez, a Spanish right full back.
Sky sports are reporting that the deal is set to conclude today, with a medical booked for this afternoon.
The 31-year-old full back is being brought in in the wake of the departure of Fabricio Coloccini.
Gamez is a solid defender that is renowned for his leadership on the field; something that Newcastle dearly lacked last season.
A great signing.
Craig Cathcart
Another player that Newcastle seem interested in is Watford defender Craig Cathcart.
A few days ago the deal looked imminent, amongst reports of a £7million Newcastle bid, but those reports have since been disproved.
What is clear though is that Cathcart is a long term Newcastle target, and so it would not be a surprise to see the club put in a legitimate bid for the Euro 2016 star this summer.
Keep an eye on this one.
Aden Flint
Aden Flint is a player that has been tracked by a number of big clubs over the last few years, and it seems that the towering defender is now being targeted by Benitez.
Currently playing for Bristol City, Aden Flint has impressed hugely over the last few years, attracting interest from across England.
The Bristol Post is reporting that he is next on the list for Benitez after they confirm the signing of Gamez over the next few days.
Flint would add steel to any struggling defence, and is sure to add extra strength to this Newcastle side next season if the deal happens.
Stephen Caulker
Another play that could add some quality to that Newcastle defence is Stephen Caulker.
Currently on the QPR books, Caulker was loaned out to the Premier League after QPR’s relegation; with the club unwilling to pay his wages in the lower leagues.
Last year chances were at a premium however, with the defender making a solitary premier league start all year.
Despite his poor year last time out, there is no doubting that Caulker is a quality player, and he could really add to this Newcastle defence.
On top of that, QPR may be looking to sell quickly, and so a cut price deal could happen. Watch this space.
Alvaro Arbeloa
One surprising deal for Newcastle fans that has emerged in recent days regards that of an ex-Real Madrid defender.
Ex-Spanish star Alvaro Arbeloa, according to The Northern Echo, is interested in a Newcastle move, with the interest replicated by the Championship side.
He left Real Madrid at the end of the 2015/16 season, and is now on the hunt for a new club.
Arbeloa and Benitez do of course have a relationship, with the manager having brought the Spaniard to the Premier League when he was in charge of Liverpool several years ago.
Will he give the Spanish star a chance to re-establish himself at Newcastle next year?
