da brdice: West Ham United will listen to offers for Roberto during the January transfer window, as reported by Football Insider.
What’s the story?
Roberto has had an absolute nightmare during his time between the sticks for the Hammers, conceding 19 goals in nine games while standing in for Lukasz Fabianski.
Those appearances were heavily punctuated with costly errors from the 33-year-old, the last of those being when he allowed Harry Kane’s header to slip through his fingers against Tottenham.
The biggest of those arguably came in the previous game though, when he punched the ball into the back of his own net to gift Burnley a goal in their 3-0 victory.
It is moments such as these that have led to West Ham being willing to listen to offers for the Spaniard during the January transfer window.
Paying the price
It says a lot about his level of performance that when David Martin came in against Chelsea, the Englishman managed to keep a clean sheet, something Roberto couldn’t replicate in any of his seven league games.
He is now paying the price for his inability to keep the ball out of the net, as he could be let go just one transfer window after arriving at London Stadium.
It has to be said that the 33-year-old has been absolutely nowhere near the level required of a Premier League goalkeeper.
With this in mind, it is difficult to see West Ham getting too many offers for Roberto, but it is understandable that they would snap the hand off anyone who does make one.
In other news, many West Ham fans were thrilled for one man after his performance against Chelsea.
